Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group has a webpage explaining how the company has considered the use of “adaptive hardware” over the years. The reproducible security threat was first showcased by Pakistan-based developer Ammar Askar on his blog two days before, after waiting for exactly two years for Mojang to respond. The new Android malware, dubbed Autolycos, was discovered by Maxime Ingrao, a security researcher at cybersecurity company Evina. The malware, which was first identified by Ingrao in June 2021, has infected eight apps on the Play Store that have been downloaded over three million times. All these malicious apps lured users into downloading them by offering additional functionality for their camera or keyboard. Ingrao pointed out that these malicious apps asked users for authorization to read SMS text on the smartphone after installation....

According to a report from TheWindowsClub, Google has tested a function that looks to reduce the JavaScript timer wake-up to 1 minute for tabs that are currently in the background webpages. The experimental Chrome feature would limit JavaScript in background tabs from performing activities such as checking if the user’s scrolling position has changed, reporting logs, and analysing interactions with ads, as many of these tasks need not be performed when the tabs run in the background....

According to Nintendo, 160,000 user accounts that use a Nintendo Network ID (NNID) to login to their Nintendo Account may have been affected by the breach. The attackers have been exploiting its NNID legacy login system to hack into user accounts since the start of April. Nintendo did not provide any more detail about how attackers had accessed NNID accounts, except that the account passwords were ‘obtained illegally by some means other than their service’....
