A hacker purporting to represent the group LulzSec has claimed responsibility for a DDoS attack that affected UK telecom TalkTalk this week. If you remember, LulzSec was a hacking team from 2011 which hacked targets for ‘Lulz’ Here is a brief bio on them : Lulz Security, commonly abbreviated as LulzSec claimed responsibility for several high profile attacks, including the compromise of user accounts from Sony Pictures in 2011. The group had also hacked CIA website during that time and taken it offline....

For those unaware, MonaCoin (MONA) is a decentralized, open-source cryptocurrency launched in Japan in the year 2014. It is also advertised as “the first Japanese cryptocurrency,” and is currently ranked 88th on CoinMarketCap based on market value. At present, one MonaCoin is equivalent to almost $4 and 434 Yen. If a new rumor and the leaked images are to be believed, the new device is called Le 2s and will come with 8GB RAM on-board and powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 processor. Stratfor, a US think tank dealing in security matters, was hacked by Jeremy Hammond in late 2011, who then passed its email archives to WikiLeaks in early 2012. Wikileaks made the dump public like it does with every other leaked document it receives. Wieder scrubbed through the five million odd emails dump only to find a malware hidden in many of the documents. According to Wieder, lot of the malware is smuggled in as VBScript macros, or OLE and PE files....

A Maryland man has pleaded guilty in a federal court in Chicago for operating a hacker-for-hire service that shut down company websites and targeted victims for as little as $20 for online harassment. Zachary Buchta, a 20-year-old admitted in his plea agreement with prosecutors confessed to launching cyberattacks and harassment campaigns as a founding member of the hacker-for-hire groups Lizard Squad and PoodleCorp, according to the Chicago Tribune. Butcha pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit damage to protected computers — a charge that can carry a sentence of up to 10 years in prison....

According to a Malaysian news website The Star, some 30 computers belonging different authorities and individuals, involved in the multi-nation probe were infected by a malware. The cyber criminals successfully hacked into the systems of the personnel including those of Civil Aviation Department and the National Security Council and MAS with the help of this malware. A Ukrainian man has legally changed his named to iPhone 7 to score a free Apple smartphone. Olexander Turin is now officially known as iPhone Sim (Seven), after an electronics store in Kiev offered the Apple phone to the first five people to rename themselves after the device, reported AP. While the smartphone costs approximately $850 in Ukraine, 20-year-old Olexander Turin aka iPhone Sim (Sim translates to seven in Ukrainian), got one for free as part of an electronics store’s promotion offer....

According to Microsoft, it has identified compatibility issues with some versions of Avast Antivirus and AVG Antivirus that contains an application that is version 19.5.4444.567 or earlier. The affected platforms include Windows 10 version 1909 (November 2019 Update) and Windows 10 Version 1903 (May 2019 Update). Microsoft’s trying to make the translator feature available to larger set of users. Since the removal of sign-up process last month, Skype Translator preview has seen a 300 percent increase in the usage, according to the company. Skype Translator was announced in December last year. It lets you translate your speech in real time both as speech and text. Currently the service supports English, Spanish, Mandarin and Italian languages for real time speech translation, but Microsoft will roll out support to more languages in coming months....
