Lutomirski had recently reported the CVE-2014-9090 which was caused due to improper handling of faults associated with the Stack Segment (SS) register on the x86 architecture. After notification of CVE-2014-9090, Borislav Petkov pointed out to Lutomirski some further flaws that existed even after vulnerability. After research Lutomirski discovered that there were two bugs in the improper handling of Stack Segment (SS) register. The new kernel kernel vulnerability is now identified CVE-2014-9322 and allows potential hacker to gain privilege escalation on all X86_64 systems....

A team from the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) gained access to the onboard computer of a 2013 Corvette by sending text messages to a plugged-in dongle that measures a car’s location and speed for insurance companies. The hack was demonstrated at the Usenix security conference in Washington DC. Savage’s team worked with dongle which is called OBD2 dongle and manufactured by French firm Mobile Devices. Mobile Devices ships these dongles and and other products to many auto manufacturers and many third-party vendors....

Baranidharan Raman, of the Washington University in St Louis, said that they have studied the way locusts smell for past many years. He and his team found that locusts can identify particular scents, such as those they’re trained to detect, even in the presence of other odours. The locusts’ brain is able to track a new odour introduced in its surrounding in just a few hundred milliseconds, says Raman. The researchers said that they will attack sensors to the locusts....
