The users who tried to block Zuckerberg would receive the message: “Block error. Sorry, you have a problem blocking the Mark Zuckerberg. Please try again later.” At that time, a Facebook spokesperson had revealed, “The error isn’t specific to any one account. It’s generated when a person has been blocked a certain large number of times. In very rare instances, a viral campaign will develop instructing lots of people to all wrongly block the same person. The purpose of this system is to protect the experience for people targeted by these campaigns. We’re constantly working to improve our systems and are taking a closer look at this one.” Zuckerberg had told BuzzFeed News then that his team is working on a fix for this problem, and since its a technical challenge it could take some time. However, the technical fix was rolled out just a few weeks later in September, which went largely unnoticed by the users, Facebook recently confirmed to The Verge. The ability to block Facebook profile of Zuckerberg was first discovered by Matt Navarra, the social media director at The Next Web, who tweeted the following. “I blocked Zuckerberg too and I was fine, I was awake and blocked him immediately after hitting the block, yes, I’m happy to have this ability, I appreciate it because Facebook is a corporation. Power and influence, but many do not want to see PR posts from company leaders. Thanks, Facebook.”
